ICON6 Update: Art Center Cocktail Party and Picture Mechanics Exhibition

July 15, 2010

Hey Everyone,

Here’s a quick and dirty video mashup of the Art Center South Campus Cocktail Party and the Picture Mechanics Exhibition at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Hollywood.

I was also excited to briefly meet Gary Taxali in person at the Picture Mechanics show.  Gary was a guest on Episode 18 of the Escape from Illustration Island Podcast.

Stay tuned for more, and better quality, audio and video coverage of the ICON6 Illustration conference right here at EFII.

Is that art on the wall (outside) done with electrical tape?

Yes it is. It was all taken down by the attendees at the end of the party, but I wasn’t there for that.

I love the art created with electrical tape, Great image, shame it was taken down.

Thomas, is that video made with your iPhone ? Technology is great, I can kick back
and watch videos of ICON6 from my desk in the UK. Great work Thomas!

Actually, I’m using a Flip video camera, but yes, we have technology to thank.

It looks chill, I’m not hard-core enough to recognize anyone though. :-(

Thanks for doing this Thomas, I look forward to more. It would have been great to see more of the art on the walls, it looked like good stuff.

The La Luz art shown is not part of the Picture Mechanics exhibit.
In face the Picture Mechanics exhibit doesn’t appear at all in the video.
